Chapter 5: A Farm

In the first rhyme, Grandpa has a farm. On the farm, he has a cow. The cow says “moo-moo.” Then we see that he also has a hen. The hen says “cluck-cluck.”

We can replace the animals with other animals and say their sounds like:

• Cat – miaow-miaow

• Dog – bow-wow

• Pig – oink-oink

• Goat – maa-maa

This makes the rhyme fun and creative.

Next, we see a farm picture. There are animals like cow, goat, pig, hen, cock, cat, and sparrow.

Then we read a lesson called “Animals and Birds.” A boy named Jaggu tells us about animals near his house.

• A dog lives near the gate.

• Cats jump in the verandah.

• A cow eats grass.

• A rat is very small.

• Monkeys swing and jump in trees.

• There are snakes in the field, so we must walk carefully.

Jaggu also talks about birds:

• A crow is black.

• A pigeon is grey.

• A sparrow is small.

• A parrot is green with a red beak.

• A peacock has many colours.

The chapter also teaches:

• Jungle animals like tiger, lion, and elephant.

• Colours of animals.

• Sounds at the end of words like cap, jam, pen, bell.

• Speaking in pairs.

• Using words like in, on, behind to describe places.

• Love and care for animals and birds.

• Learn animal names and sounds.

• Speak confidently in English.

• Observe nature around you.
