Detailed Notes (Explanation)

This story is about a parrot who lived in a golden cage.

A rich merchant kept a bright and talkative parrot. The parrot could speak nicely and entertain the merchant with stories and songs. The merchant loved the parrot very much and took good care of it. He gave it fruits and chillies to eat.

But the parrot was not happy. It wanted to fly freely in the open sky. It missed the trees and the jungle.

One day, the merchant went on a journey. Before leaving, he asked the parrot what gift it wanted. The parrot said it did not want any gift. It only wanted freedom. But the merchant refused because he loved the parrot too much to let it go.

So the parrot asked the merchant to give a message to the parrots in the jungle.

During his journey, the merchant saw many parrots in a forest. He gave them the message. Suddenly, one parrot fell down from the tree like it was dead.

The merchant was shocked and went back home. He told his pet parrot what had happened. As soon as he finished speaking, his own parrot fell down inside the cage.

The merchant felt very sad. He took the parrot out of the cage and placed it near the window.

Suddenly, the parrot got up, opened its wings, and flew away! It had only pretended to be dead. The jungle parrot had shown it a trick to escape.

The parrot happily flew into the sky and thanked its friend.
