🍬 Let’s Begin: The Toffee Shop
Bittu has a ₹5 coin and a ₹2 coin. A lollipop costs ₹7. Does he have enough? ₹5 + ₹2 = ₹7. Yes! 🍭
His friend Pinky has seven ₹1 coins. She has ₹7 too! The same amount can be made in different ways.
💰 Part 1: Coins and Notes
- Coins: ₹1, ₹2, ₹5, ₹10, ₹20
- Notes: ₹10, ₹20, ₹50, ₹100, ₹200, ₹500
⚠️ Common mistake
Counting coins instead of adding their values. ❌ Three coins are not ₹3 if they are ₹5 coins. 3 coins of ₹5 = ₹5 + ₹5 + ₹5 = ₹15.
🪙 Part 2: Many Ways to Pay
₹10 can be: one ₹10 note · two ₹5 coins · five ₹2 coins · ₹5 + ₹2 + ₹2 + ₹1
💡 Counting money
Start with the biggest coin or note, then count on the smaller ones. ₹10 + ₹5 + ₹2 → 10… 15… 17.
